Hughes Mobile Art Gallery

Hughes Mobile Art Gallery represents and supports living artists in the United States. We search and travel extensively throughout the country to museums, art shows, and galleries while adding to our collection, and award winning artists for our clients to enjoy and add to their collections. Hughes gallery focuses primarily on representational art, ranging from photo realism to impressionism. Our paintings are original art, and will never be made into prints or a giclee.

Our Story

Jack Hughes was a child prodigy and studied with the Chalfontes, Leon Berkowitz and others in the DC area. I (Barbara) studied a pre-law course at I.U, Bloomington, with two majors: Sociology and Political Science and a minor in International Law. But I really just wanted to write and paint. Somehow, the Universe conspired to make it so.

We (Barbara and Jack Hughes) started Hughes Gallery, Inc directly after entering the new millenium. Jack was a master cabinetmaker when we met and he, soon, become noted for his beautiful wood decoys and, later, for his holiday figures. I came out of the academic/publishing world having worked in college publishing for well over a decade, before meeting and marrying Jack. Between the two of us we worked in many mediums: painting, woodworking and carving, print making, hand fabricated jewelry (an area where we won many honours). We were invited to the White House twice and Jack made two gorgeous decoys for President and Mrs.Reagan. Jack’s various works have been included in many books and magazine articles through the years, including Coutry Home, Country Living and Early American Life.

Jack passed away several years ago and I was incredibly fortunate to meet Peter McKinnon and include him in our gallery circle. Hughes Gallery, Inc. has been fortunate to represent many of America’s most beloved artists: well-respected, honoured and awarded. You see, we were collectors before we opened an art gallery and we were a part of many art circles. Nothing happens by chance.

Here we are at the beginning of 2023. In 2020, Covid changed everything. Having closed our brick and mortar space in June, 2022, we are moving with the times and commmitting to become one of Florida’s first (if not the first) Mobile Art Galleries. Our intentions and goals are to make the investment of beautiful art, from well-respected and honoured artists, a wonderful experience. All you have to do is sit in your chair and peruse. Tell us, via email, phone call or text, what you’d like to try in your home and we will delivery them to you, white glove service, hang them on your walls and give you an overnight to decide if they’re right for your home. There is no obligation.

Hughes Gallery, Inc of Boca Grande, Florida has been doing business in this manner since Covid arrived on Gasparilla Island and we find it to be a wonderful experience, all around. It gives you, our clients, an opportunity to see things in your homes and all you must do is make a decision. We are incredibly excited about our new venture and we hope you’ll be visiting this web site often, because our artists are continuously shipping us work. Many of the paintings sell quickly, so if you’re looking for investment quality fine art, spend some time right here and look around a bit! We’re passionate about what we do and we LOVE doing it. Let us know how we can assist you with your art choices.
